Hello everyone my name is Sushant and I am a software engineer intern at Zocket. In this blog post, I will tell you how I made my resume to apply for internships. I am also going to show you my resume and provide you with the exact template so that you can customize your own. If you are also planning to apply for internships this post will be helpful for you.

Before getting started let’s get connected over different platforms.

My Resume

Here is the screenshot of my resume that I used to apply for internships. You can ignore the work experience section because I added it later. If you are completely new then there is no need for this section.

Let’s break out into each section of my resume.

Top:

At the top make sure to mention your name and your important details such as email, phone number, GitHub account, LinkedIn account, and Portfolio website if made. This is it for the top section. Do not add any extra and unnecessary things.

Skills:

Just after the top section make sure to add all the skills that you have. You do not need to be an expert in every skill that you mention. If you have worked on any technology and you have implemented something or any project in the technology you can mention that skill here. Because no one can be an expert in each and everything.

The reason for putting skills at the top is because when a hiring manager is looking at a resume then he or she usually takes an average of 5 seconds on your resume. Your skills will let the manager evaluate whether you are a good fit for the job or not. If your skills match the job or internship that you are applying for then the hiring manager will take some interest in your profile.

Education:

After that add your education. I will suggest you put only senior secondary and graduation details. If you have changed several schools during school time then there is no need to mention all of them. Make sure to mention your stream, your CGPA, and your completion year.

Projects:

Mention all the projects that are relevant to the internship that you are applying for. Again it will build the interest of the hiring manager to look deeply into your profile and give you a chance for the interview. Make sure to mention them in reverse time order. It means that your latest project should be on the top. Also, make sure that those projects that are not relevant to the internship that you are applying for must be at the bottom of this section.

Academic Achievements:

Now it’s time for your academic achievements. Whether you are a topper in your class or you are getting a 9 CGPA every semester or you are participating in several Hackathons or you are writing some research paper or you are hosting or attending technical sessions and workshops in your college and whatever extra you can think is related to academic can be written in this section. This section will help your resume to gain some length. Nobody wants to evaluate a resume that has only a few words written in it. The resume should be at least and at most one page long.

Hobbies:

Okay now, at last, you can mention your hobbies and that’s it.

You have a straightforward easy-to-read resume ready.
